Coming up with ideas to create a short film or story can get very tiresome. Some call it writer’s block, some call it a dark pit of no ideas. Here’s an idea, write a poem, or take an already written poem and created a visual story out of it. Creating generic scripts seem dull and boring an can make a first time writer not want to write, but poems are different.
In poetry, there are NO rules or limitations. You don’t even need to look out for grammar! Poems are also extremely efficient because they can be written extremely quickly. Poems provide powerful and meaningful metaphors that are designed to make the reader envision what the writer is saying.
Now it is your turn to take those metaphors and create a visual story. Turn words into reality by making a short film about a poem.
I am proud to say that I have tried this. Looking through old school projects, I cam across a poem I wrote in 11th grade. For some reason, this poem stood out to me and a lot of friends and family enjoyed reading it. So why not create visuals behind the words? I did. Since I have a Russian background, I was able to get the poem translated into Russian, making for a really cool end result in the video.
There are endless ideas, you just have to think about what can make your creativity pop! Have a look at my poetry video below.
